Isaiah Thomas received an honor today that should surprise no one. The Celtics guard was named today as the NBA's Eastern Conference player of the week. San Antonio's LaMarcus Aldridge picked up Western Conference honors.
Thomas, the lead scorer on a Celtics team that is currently third in the East, has been on a particular tear over the last week, capped by his 22-point, nine-assist performance during Sunday's win over Sacramento.
Coaches picked him as a reserve in the Feb. 14 All-Star game in Toronto because of his vital role on a Celtics team that is once again playing better as the season progresses, and that importance came to a head over the last week as the Celtics went 4-0, including a buzzer-beating win in Cleveland last Friday.
