Brad Stevens has a very open ended view of Marcus Smart's eventual return to the roster.
"I haven’t heard any definitive update on him, but I have heard that he’s on the court doing some court work now. If we’re still talking another week, two weeks, three weeks, whatever," the Celtics coach said before tonight's game against the Pistons.
"Court work" has a particularly vague meaning, though it should be considered progress that the Celtics guard is no longer using crutches to keep the strain off his bruised and weakened left knee.
Smart is expected to be re-evaluated this week by the Celtics medical staff, but considering that very open ended window mentioned by Stevens, it appears the guard may not be back until February.
