Teddy Greenstein: After getting slapped around, Americans fight back to wallop Argentina

RIO DE JANEIRO — Carmelo Anthony walked up behind DeAndre Jordan and whacked him on the back, an open-hand slap that would leave most of us in tears.

If ‘Melo does that in December, it starts a bench-clearing brawl.

In Rio, it’s just screwing around with a teammate.

“One thing that’s special about this team,” DeMarcus Cousins observed, “is that it didn’t take long for us to click.”

Jordan responded to the blow by grabbing my iPhone and pretending to fire it at Anthony. Instead he promised, “I’m gonna get him back as soon as you guys are done with me,” and then he snuck over and gave Anthony a fake slap on the head.
