The Boston Celtics have renounced their rights to 2013 second-round draft pick Colton Iverson, a league source told ESPN.
The 27-year-old Iverson, selected after the Celtics purchased the No. 53 pick from the Indiana Pacers, never signed with Boston and spent the past three years as an overseas stash, playing in Turkey and Spain.
The 7-foot Iverson returned stateside to join Boston's summer league entry twice, but a crowded roster never gave him much of a chance to muscle his way to a roster spot. He settled for lucrative overseas offers and has played well enough that he might intrigue an NBA team with a thin frontcourt and roster space.
