Being thrust into the summer league grind can be a daunting, chaotic experience for young NBA hopefuls.
Most of the players don’t know each other and have never played together. Oftentimes, that can lead to chemistry issues on the court, and having just a few days of practice before tipping off summer league play doesn't offer them a lot of time to get on the same page.
Leadership is desperately needed to tie a group like that together. Given the fact that most of them are still trying to land an NBA roster spot, it’s not easy finding that leader to call on.
