The NBA trade deadline came and went on February 7th where the Boston Celtics’ only move was sending Jabari Bird and cash to the Atlanta Hawks for a heavily protected second round pick.
The trade’s main purpose was to free up a roster spot for the Celtics to use on someone in the buyout market, but so far they haven’t brought anyone on. Most of the premier buyout candidates signed with new teams the day after the deadline, so if the Celtics were going to get a difference-maker, that time has passed.
They probably don’t need a difference-maker, so adding depth to a position of need could be the most logical outcome.
