Shane Larkin is out for Game 5 and ‘the foreseeable future’

Celtics backup point guard Shane Larkin has been ruled out for Game 5 of his team’s Eastern Conference semifinal against the 76ers on Wednesday night with a left shoulder sprain. Coach Brad Stevens said Larkin will likely be sidelined “for the foreseeable future,’’ but is not expected to need surgery.

Larkin suffered the injury when he collided with Philadelphia center Joel Embiid in the second quarter of Boston’s Game 4 loss Monday. He left the game and did not return.

“Obviously he’ll continue to strengthen it and work on it with our training staff and everything else,’’ Stevens said.
