Jabari Bird is finalizing a new deal with the Boston Celtics, per Yahoo's Shams Charania.
Bird, who was an exceptional two-way player in 2017-18, will join the regular roster to fill the 15th and final regular-season slot open after Abdel Nader's trade, signaling that former University of Connecticut standout Rodney Purvis will be waived with his unguaranteed deal.
Jabari will become a restricted free agent at the end of his deal, his time as a two-way guard counting as a full year of experience per the new collective bargaining agreement which created the role and roster spots last year.
