The Celtics will have a long list of free agent targets this summer, but one name we haven’t heard much about lately as a possibility is Pistons’ forward Greg Monroe.
That should change in the next couple weeks though as Gery Woeflel of the Racine Journal Times reported this weekend that there is “strong speculation” the veteran unrestricted free agent plans on picking between the Celtics and Knicks in July when he hits the open market.
Does this scenario make sense from Monroe’s and Boston’s perspective? Potentially. We’ll get into the specifics more once free agency gets closer, but Monroe is all but gone from Detroit after the team elected to trade for Ersan Ilyasova from the Bucks last week.
