The Boston Celtics’ ownership group is set to start receiving bids on the team from potential buyers on January 23, according to a letter obtained by the Boston Globe.
The letter from the Grousbeck family to the rest of the team’s stakeholders outlines the upcoming sale, including the target of a “first closing” this spring.
For several months, there have been prospective buyers, and the Grousbecks are “pleased with the broad level of interest that has emerged,” according to the letter.
The sale of the team was announced last July after Boston’s 18th win as a franchise.
