CLEVELAND — When Daniel Theis signed with the Celtics last summer after spending the start of his pro career at home in Germany, he was dreaming of situations like this one, with his team charging toward an NBA Finals berth.
Unfortunately for Theis, he has only been able to watch from the sidelines. The 25-year-old big man tore the meniscus in his left knee during a March 11 game against the Pacers and underwent season-ending surgery. He has been making progress, though. He joined the Celtics on this road trip for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Cavaliers — his first since the injury — and said he is eager to complete his recovery.
