Perry Jones, victimized by a deep frontcourt and lack of playing time in the exhibition season, was waived by the Celtics last night.
According to a league source, the team was unable to find a trade for the former Oklahoma City big man, who was attempting to make the C’s as a swing forward. Celtics management decided to waive him last night, at the waiver deadline for non-guaranteed players, to give Jones a chance to find an opportunity with another NBA team. Once the team waives free agent guard Corey Walden, who is expected to join the Maine Red Claws, they will be down to the league maximum 15-man roster.
