Pelicans sign free-agent guard Jarrett Jack on 10-day deal

METAIRIE, La. — Free-agent guard Jarrett Jack has joined the New Orleans Pelicans on a 10-day contract, returning to a team he played for five years ago.

Jack is an 11-year veteran who hasn't played since seriously injuring his right knee 32 games into the 2015-16 season while he was a starter with Brooklyn. He averaged 12.8 points and 7.4 assists for Nets last season.

Jack worked out for the Pelicans on Thursday and signed before practicing Friday. He says he's prepared to play either guard spot for a club needing backcourt depth. He is pleased to be back in New Orleans, where he played two seasons from 2010 to 2012.
