CHICAGO — Wayne Selden knows that Boston, his hometown, and the surrounding area has had an impact on the NBA.
Nerlens Noel, Selden’s former BABC and Tilton School teammate, is thriving in Philadelphia. Shabazz Napier, like Selden a native of Roxbury, has cracked the league, and is currently on the bench in Orlando. Brookline’s Jeff Adrien has made a career in and out of the league.
The Kansas guard could sense it this week when he walked down the hallway outside the gym at the NBA draft combine. The Celtics weren’t one of the seven teams who interviewed the junior, but he was very aware of his hometown team’s presence.
