Milano mirrors Celtics might

MILAN — From May 1 to Oct. 31, Milan has hosted the Universal Exhibition, a global platform for more than 140 countries, drawing in town about 20 million visitors.

Events such as this help to put Milan on the map, but its glorious basketball team has done exactly the same for the last 80 years.

Founded in 1936 — 10 years before the Celtics, who will visit Milan and Madrid this week — Olimpia Milano can easily be compared to the NBA’s winningest franchise. Both teams can proudly brag about their unmatched titles, whether you call them rings (17) or “scudetti” (26).
