Sunday afternoon was one of the rare occurrences when the game being played wasn’t the headlining act. Instead, Mike Gorman took center stage.
Gorman, the Boston Celtics’ long-time play-by-play broadcaster, will be retiring after 43 seasons of brilliance.
Mayor Wu declared April 14 “Mike Gorman Day” in the city of Boston, and the Celtics rolled out all the stops during their season finale against the Washington Wizards to honor it.
A hoard of NBA personalities shared their appreciation for Gorman during a slew of tribute videos shown on the jumbotron at TD Garden.
