As the Cleveland Cavaliers rolled into the Garden last night for Game 3 of their Eastern Conference series against the Celtics, you can’t help but figure David Blatt took a trip, at least a brief one, down memory lane.
It’s not the same building that he used to attend Celtics games while growing up, but the first-year Cavs coach and Framingham native is trying to ready his team for what’s expected to be a long playoff stay.
And his roots are not lost on him.
Blatt, who was born in 1959, said yesterday that he didn’t attend many games at the old Garden growing up — his childhood would have intertwined with the 1960 Bill Russell glory years — but as a huge fan, kept as close to the action as he possibly could.
