It looks like Celtics’ 45th draft pick, Marcus Thornton, is headed down-under to play for an undisclosed Australian professional basketball team. However, Jay King of Masslive.com reports the Sydney Kings are the favorites to land Thornton.
The Celtics will retain his draft rights as they can now watch him develop overseas without him taking up a roster spot. He’ll likely return each summer for Summer League, providing the Celtics with an in-person look at his improvement.
