Marcus Thornton is heading to Australia

reportedly headed to Australia to join an as yet undisclosed team.

The move is not all that unexpected, as the Celtics currently have 91 guards on their roster (give or take a couple). This allows the Celtics to retain his rights while he develops his game (and probably makes a lot more money) playing overseas. On the plus side for some of our Aussie friends, you get to see the kid play and develop for a while and hopefully grow into a potential contributor in a few years.

Thornton had some Summer League success, but nothing that remotely moved him above anyone else on the roster.
