The Boston Celtics announced on Wednesday afternoon that point guard Kyrie Irving will miss tonight’s matchup with the Sacramento Kings due to a left thigh contusion.
The update came in a little under five hours before tip-off in Sacramento after the Celtics previously reported a clean bill of health earlier in the afternoon. Irving was the only change to the initial list.
Irving had 19 points and 11 assists on 7/15 shooting in Tuesday’s blowout of the Golden State Warriors. Despite taking the entire fourth quarter off in night one of this back-to-back, he’ll sit out part two before heading to Los Angeles to face the Lakers and Clippers.
