With the Lakers reportedly targeting UConn’s Dan Hurley for their vacant coaching position, Joe Mazzulla and Jason Kidd took time Thursday to reflect on their paths to landing an NBA head coaching gig.
Kidd played 19 seasons in the NBA, winning a title with the Mavericks in 2011. He was hired by the Nets as head coach just nine days after he retired in 2013.
He’s now on his third stop after a stint in Milwaukee and a return to Dallas, the franchise that drafted him nearly 30 years ago.
As he thought about his path into coaching, Kidd made sure to mention the impact Mark Jackson had paving the way for former players to land opportunities.
