WALTHAM —The Celtics welcomed No. 3 overall draft pick Jayson Tatum to the Boston area today as they introduced him flanked by his four new bosses, owners Steve Pagliuca and Wyc Grousbeck, basketball czar Danny Ainge and head coach Brad Stevens.
And, to no surprise, they all expressed optimism that Tatum will do good things when he first dons his new Celtics jersey bearing No. 11.
“He’ll be great in our community and our locker room, and he’ll also be making some shots,” Ainge said. “We’re very excited to have him here in Boston.”
Tatum, 19, who glanced up at the 17 championship banners and retired numbers at the Celtics facility before speaking, said he was thrilled to move on from Duke.
