Brad Stevens had a good reason to reminisce about the past on Friday night.
Former Celtics star guard Isaiah Thomas agreed to a 10-day contract with the Pelicans on Friday, marking his return to the NBA after being out of the league for over a year.
Stevens, who coached Thomas from 2015-17 in Boston, was elated for his former player.
“I watched him play with Team USA and communicated with him a little bit around there, and I’m really happy for him,” Stevens told reporters. “I sent (Pelicans coach) Stan (Van Gundy) a text today right afterwards.
