R.J. Hunter was still a player at Georgia State when the big star down the street, the Hawks' Kyle Korver, went out to breakfast with the young guard with the smooth jump shot.
Korver admits he had ulterior motives. His college roommate was a sports agent attempting to recruit Hunter, and Korver thus acted as the middle man. Hunter ultimately went in another direction when he signed with agent Mark Bartelstein. But the two athletes, veteran shooter and young, up-and-coming collegiate star, formed a link.
"He doesn’t expect things to be handed to him. It’s kind of the mid-major way that some of us understand," Korver said this morning, referring to his own mid-major beginnings at Creighton.
