The Celtics finally got their big on Sunday afternoon when they were able to lock up center Aron Baynes to the room exception ($4.3M for one season).
The signing will be sigh of relief to those worried about the team’s lack of interior presence. Last season Baynes per 36 put him at 11.3ppg, 10.3rpg, and shot 84% from the free throw line which allowed him to close out games over Andre Drummond. On the defensive end, Baynes has shown real promise in limited minutes:

Again, I want to emphasis that these were limited minutes and this is most likely the role he’ll play for the Celtics.
