BOSTON — Former Celtics coach Doc Rivers is returning to Boston to help raise money for a local anti-poverty organization.
Rivers helped establish the Hoop Dreams fundraising event soon after coaching the Celtics to the 2008 NBA Championship. It's now in its sixth year.
Co-ed basketball teams will compete Tuesday evening on the Celtics' home court at TD Garden.
Among the players this year are ESPN's Jackie MacMullan and Democratic Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey. Both are former college basketball players.
Proceeds benefit Action for Boston Community Development's WorkSMART initiative, which helps low-income youths stay in school.
