Enes Kanter is being held in Romania because his passport has been "cancelled", the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Turkish star tweeted in a video Saturday morning.

“What’s up world? Just wanted to say we’re in Romania and they said they cancelled my passport by Turkish embassy," he said.

Kanter said he had been held for hours and assumed that he was being held for his political views. Kanter, who has voiced disapproval of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the past, called him a dictator in the post and the "Hitler of our century."

The Thunder forward was publicly disowned last year by his family, which supports the current regime.
