Due to all the Celtics' high priced starters, it's all about the luxury tax when it comes to adding players, even on minimum deals. With that luxury tax bill included, Celtics ownership would have had to pay $10 million to retain Walker.
While Walker has previously said he'd be open to playing in Maine if no other NBA team picked him up, NBA fan bases (especially the Lakers) seem to be salivating at the thought of picking up the talented young guard.
