The TD Garden crowd didn’t have a ton to cheer for in Thursday’s loss to the Knicks.
But there was one particularly special moment for the fans celebrate: when Derrick White received the Red Auerbach award moments before tip-off. The yearly distinction, officially created in 2006, honors a player that best exemplifies the spirit and meaning of what it means to be a Boston Celtic.
“How about that, huh?” Joe Mazzulla said, with a smile, when asked about White earning the honor.
