Celtics waive Jones, Walden to trim roster to 15

The Celtics announced late Saturday afternoon they had waived both Perry Jones III and Corey Walden, effectively trimming their roster down to the league maximum of 15 players.

The moves should come as little surprise, as president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said earlier this week, via the Boston Herald, he would have the roster situation figured out by Saturday.

Although it's unlike Ainge to outright waive a player with a guaranteed contract, he did pursue deals to get some value in return. And, according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, Ainge did so with the idea of keeping Jones.
