PORTLAND, Ore. – Kyrie Irving will have what the Celtics call a “minimally invasive procedure” on his sore left knee tomorrow, with no immediate timetable for a return.
Though the team is naturally praying that its best player is ready for a return once the playoffs begin in another month, there was radio silence from the team Friday on a timetable.
“It could be very dependent on how it goes. I’ll know more Sunday,” Brad Stevens said before this morning’s shootaround at the Moda Center.
The greatest consideration for Stevens is Irving’s long-term well-being. The Celtics coach has been aware all season of Irving’s ongoing knee pain – an issue dating back to when he fractured his left kneecap just prior to the 2015 playoffs in Cleveland.
