The Celtics on Thursday traded guard Jabari Bird and cash to the Atlanta Hawks, league sources told the Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach. The Hawks will waive Bird, according to reports.
Bird was arrested in September after a domestic incident in which he allegedly choked his girlfriend more than a dozen times and repeatedly threatened to kill her. He was arraigned that month on charges of assault and battery on a household or family member, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and strangulation or suffocation. He pleaded not guilty. Last month, he pleaded not guilty to two new counts of witness intimidation and threatening to commit a crime stemming from the same September incident.
