Celtics player Jabari Bird faces new charges in domestic violence case

Boston Celtics reserve guard Jabari Bird, who stepped away from the team in September following his arrest for allegedly choking his girlfriend more than a dozen times, faces new charges in the high-profile domestic violence case, according to court records.

He was arraigned Wednesday in Brighton Municipal Court on new counts of witness intimidation and threats to commit a crime stemming from the same incident. He pleaded not guilty and was released on the same $50,000 bail he had posted previously.

Bird was arraigned in September on charges of assault and battery on a household or family member, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and strangulation or suffocation.
