Prior to Friday night's game against the Raptors, the Celtics announced that they have exercised options on the contracts of big man Kelly Olynyk and guards Marcus Smart and James Young ahead of the November 2 deadline. The three players are now under contract through the end of the 2016-17 season.
As first-round draft picks, all three were originally guaranteed two-year contracts, with a team option to extend that for two more. In Olynyk's case, 16-17 will be the last year of his rookie deal. Smart and Young, 2014 draftees, can remain in Boston on their current contracts for one more season after that.
