WALTHAM — Golden State’s Draymond Green, freshly minted NBA champion, has another title as well.
He’s the patron saint of swing forwards — frontcourt players often written off as too awkward to guard the wing and too small to play inside.
Green is a one-man clearing house for guarding all three frontcourt positions. He spaces the floor with open 3-pointers. He was a longshot taken with the 35th pick of the 2012 draft.
For UCLA freshman Kevon Looney and Arizona junior Brandon Ashley, a pair of 6-foot-9 forwards who took part in a four-man pre-draft workout for the Celtics yesterday, Green is proof that the NBA is changing for the better if you’re versatile enough.
