LAS VEGAS — Warren LeGarie, who created the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, has learned a lot about marketing in his time as a basketball impresario and agent.
So he saw the giant wave of popularity that hit a day before last night’s Celtics-Lakers game, which became the first advance sellout in summer league history, with all 19,552 seats scooped up by Friday.
From a popular ESPN 30 for 30 film about the Celtics-Lakers rivalry to the participation of the second and third picks in last month’s NBA draft — Lonzo Ball for the Lakers and Jayson Tatum with the C’s — it’s no wonder it was the featured event on LeGarie’s Saturday night ticket, with coverage on ESPN.
