Celtics Notebook: Benchmark work by Sully

NEW YORK — Jared Sullinger rode the media wave yesterday, which started with the Celtics forward talking about his recent shooting slump and health issues, and ended with a 12-point, 10-rebound performance off the bench.

That’s right, off the bench. Sullinger, who went into last night’s 103-94 Celtics win over Brooklyn averaging seven points on 16-for-43 shooting in his previous five games, was replaced by Kelly Olynyk in the starting lineup.

Sullinger had disagreed earlier in the day with the suggestion he was in a slump, saying, “not really.”

By the end of the night, a more spirited Sullinger said, “I was in my groove, a little bit, kinda, sorta, if you say so.
