Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas is the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

The 5-foot-9 Thomas, ticketed for his first All-Star appearance later this week, averaged 20.3 points, 7 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals over 33.6 minutes per game as Boston posted the only perfect record (4-0) in the East.

This was Thomas' third nomination of the season and Boston's first winner. San Antonio's LaMarcus Aldridge was the West Player of the Week.

The NBA highlighted Thomas' week in announcing the award:

  • Feb. 2 @ New York: Scored 20 points and added eight assists and five rebounds during a 97-89 victory against the Knicks.
