Celtics center Enes Kanter was doing an interview with MSNBC Monday morning when he received a phone call from an official of the Canadian government.
“I’m like, ‘Oh my god. I got to call them right back,’ ’’ Kanter told the Globe Monday evening.
The news was positive: Kanter would be permitted to travel to Toronto for the Celtics’ noon Christmas Day game against the Raptors. Since signing with the Celtics this offseason, Kanter had been collaborating with American and Canadian officials so he would be able to safely travel to Canada this season.
So, what was his reaction when he finally got the word?
