Celtics’ Baylor Scheierman explains how being a record-setting high school QB helped his game

Before the Celtics selected him with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Baylor Scheierman set the Nebraska state record for single-season passing yards (3,924) and touchdowns (59) as a high-school quarterback.

His football skill-set helped prepare him for the hardwood. Scheierman was a First-Team All-Big East selection last season, averaging 18.5 points, 9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.

“I think it plays a big part, obviously,” Scheierman said. “The quarterback in football – you have to know everything that is going on on the field. You have to know what routes your receivers are running.
