Washington Wizards fans no doubt are still cheering John Wall’s clutch, closing-seconds, season-on-the-line basket to beat the Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Friday night at the Verizon Center.
As was noted in an SB Nation post, it was “. . . one of the biggest shots in the history of Washington D.C. sports.”
A fellow named King Motley, weighing in for the DC-based KCMsports.com, echoed that sentiment by stating it was “. . . simply the greatest shot in Washington Wizards history — at least in a generation.”
And Tim Bontemps, who covers the NBA for the Washington Post, observed that “(Wall’s) shot will be played again and again for years to come and will be remembered as an iconic moment for a franchise that hasn’t had many of them outside of the 1970s.
