Everyone would love to have the first pick in the draft, but the truth of the matter is that only one lucky team can have it. Last night, that big winner was the Boston Celtics. With the best odds to land the first overall pick, they held position and will make the first selection of this June's draft.
As for the entire lottery, here's how things shook out.
1 | Boston Celtics | 8 | New York Knicks |
2 | Los Angeles Lakers | 9 | Dallas Mavericks |
3 | Philadelphia 76ers (via Kings) | 10 | Sacramento Kings (via Pelicans) |
4 | Phoenix Suns | 11 | Charlotte Hornets |
5 | Sacramento Kings (via 76ers) | 12 | Detroit Pistons |
6 | Orlando Magic | 13 | Denver Nuggets |
7 | Minnesota Timberwolves | 14 | Miami Heat |
The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers are certainly happy with their position, but should they feel all that great about it, considering the historical value of a top overall pick?
