Game one of the Boston Celtics’ grueling 23 games in 42 nights has started off on the wrong foot, as it is reported that All-Star point guard Kemba Walker has been ruled out tonight with the flu. With this unfortunate news, the team has responded by recalling their rookie point guard Tremont Waters from the team’s G-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
Through three outings with Boston, Waters has averaged 4.7 points and one assist while shooting 41% from the field in 9.3 minutes per game. The last time Walker was out while Waters was activated to the team’s roster the rookie was granted significant playing time — that flowed well into the fourth quarter — and produced admirably.
