Antoine Walker spent the first seven seasons of his career as a member of the Boston Celtics. He was drafted sixth overall in the 1996 draft with high expectations. At the time the Celtics franchise was in turmoil, the team was not winning games and they desperately needed a young star to build around.
During Walker’s rookie year, he certainly seemed destined to be the franchise cornerstone. Antoine averaged 17.5 points per game to go along with nine rebounds and three assists on the year. The Celtics finished with the worst record in basketball, and “Toine”stood out as the lone bright spot on the team.
