Since the franchise’s foundation back in 1946, the Boston Celtics have etched themselves into the record books as the most winningest organization in league history. Attaining their first NBA Finals title back in 1956 the team has gone on to win 16 more — 17 in total — , 11 of which were won within a span of 12 years.
Year in and year out the team is seemingly always amongst the powerhouses of the league as well as viewed, at the least, as a playoff contender and, at best, championship contenders.
Thanks to the brilliance of General manager / President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge — who is a former Celtic himself (1981-89) — the team has kept their competitive ways afloat, winning their record setting 17th title in 2008 and garnering postseason berths 16 times over the past 20 years — second most in the league.
