Ability to sign undervalued big for more than minimum can ‘tip scales’ for Boston Celtics

The ability for the Boston Celtics to offer Christian Wood more than just the veteran’s minimum salary for the 2023-24 season can “tip the scales” in the C’s favor in free agency according to Inside The Celtics’ Bobby Krivitsky.

“(Wood) could pair with Kristaps Porzingis, Robert Williams, or Al Horford,” Krivitsky prefaced before saying, “Being able to offer him more than the veteran minimum for a rotation spot on a title contender could tip the scales in the Celtics’ favor.”

Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey called Wood the top free agent still available on July 4 after the initial wave of free agents all found homes and the James Harden and Damian Lillard trade situations put the league in a holding pattern.
