Late yesterday afternoon, the Boston Celtics announced Hall-of-Famer John Havlicek passed away at the age of 79. Havlicek was an 8-time world champion during his 16 seasons with the franchise. Havlicek finished his career on the court averaging over 20.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
With 26,395 career points, Havlicek is the all-time leading scorer of the Boston Celtics. He also played the most games in a Boston Celtics uniform at 1,270, missing no more than 11 games in any of his 16 seasons in Boston.
Havlicek was drafted as the 7th overall pick in the 1962 NBA draft out of Ohio State, and quickly became a key player on the Celtics.
