Coming down from the feel-good run into the playoffs, it makes sense to make a realistic appraisal of the roster. That this measuring stick is a critical aspect of moving forward with the rebuild should come as no surprise. What is something of a shock is just how few changes this stock-taking would impose on the plethora of paths available to Danny Ainge going forward. Up, down, and all around is an appropriate off-the-cuff answer to almost every question: Move in the draft? Swing for the fences or bunt singles in free agency? Stay poised to be a central figure in player trades, or enabler, or pivot point?
