The season did not start off great for Williams. Time management problems early on including missing his first ever team plane ride the day after the draft earned him the sarcastic nickname “TimeLord”. Even with the rough start, Williams was able to provide the occasional spark off the bench when the Celtics needed him.
When Aron Baynes went down with an injury, it was up to Williams to step up off the bench. His athleticism and shot-blocking ability instantly made Williams a fan favorite, with his biggest game coming against one of the leagues premier big men. His 7 point, 11 rebound, 3 block performance against Anthony Davis capped off an intriguing rookie season.
