The Boston Celtics will be without rookie guard Marcus Smart for two to three weeks after he suffered a sprained ankle and bone bruise on Friday.
Per Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston, "for the Celtics, it's encouraging news given how severe the injury looked in the moment. Smart's left ankle turned awkwardly after he stepped on the foot of Indiana's Lavoy Allen while driving to the basket early in the fourth quarter of the Celtics' victory over the Pacers."
Smart immediately clutched his ankle in pain as his teammates and coaches looked on in concern.
However, an initial set of X-rays showed no bone breaks, with Smart also undergoing an MRI on Friday to determine the severity of the injury.
With Smart out, the Boston Celtics will likely give Phil Pressey and veteran Evan Turner extended looks as they attempt to keep things rolling in Smart's absence.
